Danish author Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales include famous stories such as "The Little Mermaid," "The Emperor's New Clothes," and "The Snow Queen" (pictured). This translation by Alfred Wehnert and Caroline Peachey was, given its publication date, probably the one that circulated to Trinidad in the 1870s.
